Why hello there feet to the ribs…

Now at 36 weeks along we see the doctor once a week, and my uterus is so high she almost couldn’t find the top of it at this morning’s appointment. Never have I wanted more of a torso until now. I find myself in envy of those woman with long torsos, thinking to myself how wonderful it must be while pregnant. Yes, almost like the unexpected “Boot to the head”, I have feet to the ribs. This wasn’t really an issue for me until about a week ago. In fact I was just starting to count myself really lucky because he hadn’t been pushing his limbs into my ribs yet, clearly that’s not that I should have been thinking as now I regularly have trouble sitting due to the pressure from limbs on the left side. My best guess is that he spun a bit and that’s why I hadn’t actually felt it before and am now. I have pushed my weight gain up to 16 pounds now, to which the nurse said “that’s great” as she wrote the number down. I was told they are pretty confident he is head down with his back to the right side and legs/feet off towards the left, at least for today. 😉

At the beginning of the month, I attended my 2nd baby shower. It was hosted by Cecile and Alicia, and in complete cuteness thanks to Alicia’s crafty skills. All the food they did was labeled with little flags and with presentation that looked like it walked out of a home decorating magazine. Unfortunately, I didn’t take a single photo. 🙁 Honestly, I don’t know what I was thinking there. I had a great time hanging out with everyone and hopefully so did the guests. The weather for the day was crazy. One minute it was sunny, then went to overcast and hailing out followed quickly by a bit of rain.

As far as his bedroom is concerned, as of tonight we are finished. Richard spent some time touching up paint around the room after dinner. Tomorrow night we’ll be able to move his stuff from the living room(where it’s been this whole time) and into the bedroom! I’m really jazzed about this for a few reasons. First of all, it makes his arrival more real(I know as if the belly movement, etc didn’t already, but now he has a whole bedroom) and second, I can finally clean the living room. Because of all the construction and reconstruction it hasn’t actually been cleaned in months. I think the layer of dust is actually forming its own colony of dust bunnies now.

I know it’s hard to see, but the floor is painted a light gray color and the trim is up around the edge. This was taken a bit earlier as the trim around the windows isn’t painted yet. Since he just finished in there tonight, I hope to have new pictures up by the weekend.

Here’s the first look at what will be his new quilt. Kami has been working hard on his bedroom linens. When she’s finished he’ll have matching quilt, bumper, bed skirt and window coverings. From what I’ve seen so far, I really like it. Quince doesn’t know how lucky he is to have an Auntie who sews so well.
