Thanksgiving Festivities

Cranberry-Blueberry pie

Festivities this year were held in Quilcene, a change from the usual Shoreline. It was a much smaller party than normal, which Richard said was harder in terms of pie making. He prefers more people because he can do more varieties. While part of me agrees with that, the other part also realizes that typically after eating a large Thanksgiving meal I only have enough room for a small slice of one kind of pie. :p Never the less, we got pictures of Quince “helping” to make pie.

He was quite excited to be holding into the whisk and managed to splash both himself and the floor with pumpkin. Next year should be more interesting, maybe he’ll want to help roll out dough. For something new this year we did pie delivery to one of the other band member, he made them a Cranberry-Blueberry pie(aka Political Unity pie). I was told that they really enjoyed it.

Regardless of attendance, it was great to see everyone, and dinner was good. Unfortunately, Quince wasn’t feel good so no one got to really see him in action. Hopefully, at Christmas he won’t be throwing up.  Richard and I were lucky and got the turkey carcass.

First Thanksgiving

We made quick use of that turning into delicious soup this past Saturday night. My mom, Leaha and Diven came over and joined us. I made Diven a crochet hat(of which I forgot to take some photos of) and we just hung out in general. It was too bad that Ben and Theresa couldn’t make it after all. Richard also decided to separate the meat from the stock and freeze it into small portions to be used at a later date. You never know when you need a 1/2 cup or so of broth!

I know many people who enjoy shopping Black Friday, however I am not one of them. I don’t mind crowds, I love people watching and I enjoy shopping(be it window or with a purpose). On this day, I avoid going to a mall or any other place having huge sales. We ran a few errands around downtown that day and that’s it. Mostly our errands involved stopping in and saying hi to people we knew would be working.

I hope everyone else had a great Thanksgiving!
