We are now back in Taipei. We arrived back yesterday afternoon.
Richard had to give a presentation to the office. Quince and I hung out during that time. I was hoping he would fall asleep but it didn’t happen. They got him a nice birthday cake that we cut into after they finished. Cakes in Taipei and China(likely Japan as well) are quite different from cakes in the US. Often decorated with real fruit and a whipped cream weight frosting. The cake itself is also lighter but appears to be the same. However upon taking a bit you quickly learn it lacks the sugary sweet flavors. This is also true for the frosting and filling between the layers. For the pair who doesn’t care for cake due to how sweet they are this is amazing! We had belt sushi for dinner at a place said to airlift their fish in daily. It’s a chain store with many locations around the city.
We returned the to the hotel with Quince sleeping but decided to still go to the night market. It’s very famous.
It’s one street with an extension onto another street to form a Y. Scooters and bikes are allowed on the road during this time but cars are not.
When we stay at this hotel after we first arrived we were on the 9th floor. This time we are on great 12th. The sunrise is a better scene, as is our view of Taipei 101 tower.
Robert L said he would take care of Richard while his wife, Jenny, planned some sightseeing for Quince and I. This was great because I hadn’t gotten around to seeing about how to get around. Lacking confidence in my Chinese. I wasn’t sure how to well I could communicate with others prior to our arrival.
