Today at ECCC, I waited for autographs for Felicia Day and Quinton Flynn. Who would have thought that I would get sung too? Read on…
It’s no secret that I’m good at getting lost and am horrible with names. Now, with that in mind how was I suppose to know that Quinton Flynn has voiced in several things I know? Good thing they have minions to remind you of this! If I would have been on the ball, I could have had my copy of Kingdom Hearts signed. I love that game. First off, he’s a really nice guy and easy to chat with. There was no line so we walked over, he was just arranging his lunch so we waited a few minutes. Being a person who gets han-gry myself, I didn’t want to get pushy while someone makes their lunch plans so we waited patiently and chatted with the minion there. When he finished we walked up to his table and said hello. I told him how my son’s name is Quince as a result of a compromise between my husband and I over using Quinton. Personal bias is that Q names are full of win. When he signed for me, he asked my name and I told him. “Like the song” he asked. “Yes” I replied. Wow, until today the last time someone said that was at least a few years ago. It didn’t stop there as him and his helper started singing it. Hahaha! Personalized autograph, a nice chat and as a bonus mini-concert all rolled in one!
The line we waited in first was Felicia Day. Now, yes I can remember her name and what she’s in but we all know that’s not the norm for me. Her line was a bit longer so I took up some knitting while we waited. Kami and I chatted with a cool Australian girl who was being an awesome friend by waiting in line for to autograph something for her friend. Since we were crafting that meant a few others who asked about our projects. Finally we make it to the table, I’m just stuffing my shawl back into my bag when the minion girl asks about what I was working on. “It’s the Ishbel shawl” I say. She then pulls out the shawl she just finished. It had some super cool beading on it and she used a very pretty color. Kami and I then had a yarn craft moment chatting with her and Felicia waited for me. :/ Eek! Not that I wasn’t excited to meet her it’s just I wasn’t paying attention. She’s really nice, even complimented my shawl work and posed for a picture with me. Which I’ll post soon-ish. If for some reason she stumbles upon my wee-blog, I swear I didn’t mean to be so distracted! I really am/was excited to meet you. I started with watching The Guild years ago and now occasionally catch episodes of The Flog. The cooking segments are some of my favorites and look like tons of fun.
Since I wanted the name of the shawl minion girl finished I found a piece of paper in my bag where I wrote my name, ravelry username and the name of my shawl. I asked one of the other minions to give to her. They took it down and sent back the name of her shawl. Sweet! I hope she finds me on ravelry too, I have a feeling she does some neat stuff and I’d love to see.
To cap off the day we ended with watching, more like listening as we couldn’t see a thing, to the panels for Dirk Benedict followed by Sir Patrick. Both were very enjoyable. I can’t really say much more than simply being glad I went. The mass rush when people realized they could have lined up for questions for Sir Patrick was really funny and literally shook the floor.
I had a good day and some cool memories. 🙂
