As the bills roll in

Everyone has been asking “what’s the total?”, and currently we don’t yet know. However, we do have some of the bills in and each week brings a new one or changed one reflecting renegotiated amounts between our insurance company and the one who provided the services. Richard and I have decided to give you a running total here since we get asked often about the numbers. For those who have expressed an interest in helping us out there is a Paypal link below the running totals, or contact me and I can provide an account number if you want to pay directly.

Description of providers:

Olympic Medical Center is our local hospital where Quince was delivered.  Their bill includes labor and delivery, as well as the nursery stay for when he was first resuscitated and placed under observation for the Merconium Aspiration.  His first X-Rays of his chest were also in this set of bills.

Seattle Radiologists is the radiological imaging company that manages the medical imaging equipment for Swedish hospital.  Quince had an X-Ray for his PICC line placement, as well as a follow up X-Ray before discharge for his pneumothorax (air pockets outside the lungs) and fractured clavicle, an finally his 3 MRI scans.

Swedish Physicians Division are responsible for managing the patient accounts for a couple of Quince’s specialists, namely his neurologist.

Airlift Northwest is the air ambulance company that transported Quince from Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles to Swedish Medical Center in Seattle

Swedish Medical Center is one of the major hospitals in Seattle, and one of only a few the region with a Level 3 NICU.  (Childrens Hospital, University of Washington, and Mary Bridge are the only others that I know of.)  This bill is for his stay there, we know it covers his time in NICU and ISCU, but not sure what other services fall under this.

Northwest Pathology handles some of the lab work samples taken.

Physicians Anesthesia Services is the group responsible for general anesthesia.  Quince needed full anesthesia for this 3rd MRI.

Olympic Medical Physicians is the group of outpatient and specialists in Port Angeles, most of this bill is for the midwives to do the delivery and followup.

Other note-worthy care providers involved with Quince:

Peninsula Children’s Clinic is Quince’s normal pediatric doctors.  They handle all of his normal baby stuff.  Including immunizations, general health.

Port Angeles School District, Birth to Three program.  This is the school district program that Quince is enrolled in because of his higher risk for developmental delays from the damage to his brain.  This program is free to us!  They come to the house once in a while, during the summer, but once the school year begins, he can go down there and be in the classroom going through his exercises that the Birth to Three teachers and therapists find he can use, as well as providing information and incorporating developments plans from Quince’s developmental specialists at Swedish.
